Finally get to show this poster I’ve been working on for the movie “Legend of the Golden Fishcake”. It’s probably been the most difficult thing i’ve worked on, the sheer size of it ( 8000×12000 pixels) made my computer cry

A morning warmup study from zorn, about an hour and a half and then a late night girl sketch like an hour.

Sorry I havent updated much. I felt like I was starting to get over worked so I’ve been taking it semi-easy last week neglecting my studies a bit and just got the client work done as I needed to regain some energy. Anyway, heres a little bit of an update.

I dont have much to show as i’ve been doing pretty much only commissioned work lately and thats under NDA’s. But heres a little somesin somesin..

The second is an alternative version, I think the first one turned out best though.

Started this last night and finished it up today. I might try doing a back view too.

Ive been working all day on a concept but I wont post it til its finished. Instead, here are some quick stuff I did too..

Two paintings I did today. Im trying out something where I spend like the first twenty minutes of painting looking at the ref and the rest of the time (1-2 rougly) trying to paint it from head.

Spent most day drawing in my sketchbook but managed to do some quick digital stuff too. Colorstudy and some choppers from imagination..

The tiny thumbs was a fun exercise where I set a timer at 15 minutes per painting. The other environments where about 20 minutes each without ref. I also did some character sketches.

Trying out some color stuff, was alot of fun. Practicing painting the portrait from imagination.

Here are some studies of late. Ive been doing alot of sketching in my sketchbook too but I havent had the chance to scan them yet. Will do soon.

I also decided that the composition for the zelda piece was a bit boring so I spent another couple of hours doing composition sketches. I’m going to go with the one in color.

I just started sketching on the zelda piece today so its pretty rough and un referenced, just trying to get my idea across. Will start doing some appliable studies for it tomorrow. Its for a competition titled “Windwaker reworked” over at crimson daggers.  http://crimsonbloodsports.blogspot.com/
